Plantier, heir of a family of foresters and saw millers,
set up a factory in Mimizan to manufacture Landes pine parquet
flooring and panelling.
The family business began to operate on an industrial
scale. An automated sawmill and a highly efficient wood
drying unit were then built.
Félix Plantier innovated by creating the first varnished
panelling. Its name: "Verniland". In order to
produce it, he set up a varnishing unit close to the first
factory.
Green, blue, yellow and red: a coloured version of
Verniland was launched and enjoyed rapid success. The factory
doubled its varnishing capacity to meet demand.
The colour palette was extended. Widely recognised as a
top-grade product thanks to its numerous coats of protective
varnish and the quality of its finish, Verniland offered
many possibilities for interior designers and architects.
FP Bois took over Etablissements DUCORNEAUX based in Pontex,
specialising in parquet flooring, panelling and other products
in kit form.
In 20 years, Verniland had become the national leader in
top-grade panelling. The quality control system adopted
for the entire Verniland manufacturing process led to ISO
9002 certification.
Christian PLANTIER, the Chairman and Managing Director
in place at that time, decided to merge the 3 companies
to create FP BOIS. This reflected the strong dynamics and
the new ambitions of a company that had become the leading
French manufacturer of top-grade panelling and the number
1 in technological innovation and creativity in that field.
All of FP BOIS's industrial sites were awarded AFAQ ISO
9002 certification.
Acquisition of the Jean Plantier company's industrial assets,
